Jeremy JOINS THE Mt. SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE FACULTY IN FALL 2023

Jeremy begins a new Full-Time Professorship at Mt. San Antonio College in August 2023 in Walnut, California. He is excited to work with Bruce Rogers to usher in a new Jazz Voice program at the college – which will aim to empower vocalists with skills not traditionally taught at most collegiate jazz voice programs.  He is honored and humbled to join a vocal program with a renowned record.  The list of honors bestowed upon SINGCOPATION – the top vocal jazz ensemble at Mt. SAC – is phenomenal:  

  • Fourteen time winner of the Downbeat Magazine award as the number one two-year college large vocal jazz group in the United States.

  • Five time winner of the Downbeat Magazine award for “Outstanding Performance”.   

  • Three-time winners of the Monterey “Next Generation Jazz Festival” in Monterey, CA.

  • Three performance invitations as guest artists at the prestigious Monterey Jazz Festival.  

  • Invitational performances at  the International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE) Conventions, in New York City, Toronto, and in Long Beach.

  • Invitational performance at the Jazz Education Network (JEN) National Conference in New Orleans. 

  • Opening act for the "Real Group" at the Apollo Theater in New York City.

  • Headline performers at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, with special guest artist Darmon Meader.

  • Headline performers at the Canadian Rocky Mountain Music Festival in Banff. 

  • Headline performance at the ANCA Choralfest Convention in Port Macquarie, Australia.

  • First place trophy winners at the International American Choral Competition in Reno, Nevada and winners of the overall "Grand Prix Prize". 

  • Concert tour to Guangzhou, China, and Platinum Medal winners at the 1st Xinghai International Choral Competition.

  • Gold Medal winners at the Grand Prix of Nations choral competition in Magdeburg, Germany.

  • Award winners at the Reno Jazz Festival, in Reno, NV.

  • Participated as guest artists for the L.A. Vocal Jazz Workshop where they performed with Steve Zegree, Michele Weir and Darmon Meader from the “New York Voices”.

  • Performed at the ACDA Western Regional Convention in Honolulu, Hawaii.

  • Performances at B.B. King’s and the Baked Potato nightclubs in Hollywood.

  • Performances at Steamers Jazz Club in Fullerton and Campus Jax in Newport Beach.

  • Combined with a professional orchestra from Los Angeles to perform “Star Wars In Concert” to sell-out audiences at the Honda Center and the Nokia Theater.

JEREMY and BOSSA NOVA SINFONICO hits 6.5 million views!

Videos of Bossa Nova Sinfónico have had million views on YouTube. “Garota de Ipanema” (Girl from Ipanema) is currently at 6.5 million views. In May 2016, Jeremy returned from Havana, Cuba, with the Bossa Nova Sinfónico ensemble.  Jeremy wrote many of the orchestral arrangements for this show, conducting the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba as part of the Disco Festival Cuba 2016.  The featured Jazz/Brazilian quintet includes singer Rose Max, guitarist Ramatis Moraes, bassist Jamie Ousley, drummer Carlomagno Araya, and the late Michael Orta on piano.  In March 2013, the premiere of Bossa Nova Sinfónico resulted in the release of a live recording of the CD "Bossa Nova Sinfónico: Recordando a Antonio Carlos Jobim", which was nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards, and which won the "Best CD of the Year" award in 2014, by the Brazilian Press Awards."  For more info, please visit www.BossaNovaSinfonico.com



Jeremy’s VOCAL JAZZ ENSEMBLE PERFORMS AT NATIONAL ACDA In CINCINNATI LAST FEBRUARY 2023!

Jeremy’s vocal jazz ensemble First Take (from 2022-23) was the only collegiate vocal jazz ensemble invited to perform at the National American Choral Directors Association National Conference in Cincinnati, OH last February 2023. The ensemble performed in a 2900 seat theater to an audience of interested choral directors, receiving a standing ovation for their hard work. The ensemble also earned a performance invitation at the 2024 Jazz Education Network Conference.

Jeremy was nominated in the 57th Annual Grammy Awards for his arrangement of "All My Tomorrows", featuring vocalist Kate McGarry, and flugelhorn player Jared Hall.  The track features more than 40 orchestral players, piano (Daniel Strange), guitar (René Toledo), bass (Geoff Saunders), and drums (Michael Piolet).  Assistant engineering were Stefania Martinez, Kelly Garner, and Jason Richmond. Mastering by Bill Hare.

 

The arrangement is from Jeremy's "With Love" album, which is available at iTunes and Amazon, as well as other digital stores.  The album features 11 of Jeremy's orchestral and big band arrangements sung by a stunning line-up of vocalists: Kate McGarry, Kate Reid, Sunny Wilkinson, Peter Eldridge, Lauren Kinhan, Wendy Pedersen, Derek Fawcett, Anders Edenroth, Rose Max and Kevin Mahogany.
